Since you have listed yourself as an independent artist on Designhill PrintShop, we suggest you undertake self-promotion steps. Self-promotion allows you to get your work out there. It also helps you find an audience for your work.
For some designers, it may appear unnatural or uncomfortable but it’s all about marketing your work to become a successful designer. It is the simplest thing you can do. Designhill features as many designers as possible on its own website, blog, promos, and other platforms.
But as we are a growing community and have more than 100,000 artists on board, self-promotion is the best way to sell your work.
Here are a few ways to spread the word and grow your fanbase.
(I) Sharing on social platforms
Some designs achieve success by using various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr. If you have come across some inspiring designers at Designhill's community, check out their external marketing practices. You can learn a lot from their marketing plans. You can also provide links from various websites on which you have created your profile such as Behance, Dribbble, Instagram, Flickr, and more.
You just need to add URLs to your Designhill Marketplace profile.
(II) Posting to FB (Facebook)
You can add a link to your work using Facebook which is a seamless process. All you need to do is to—
Copy the address of your Designhill portfolio - http://www.designhill.com/member/**USERNAME**/
Now, paste it as a status update to your Facebook profile.
Add a crisp message instead of the internet address to let your family and friends know that they can buy a product featuring your designs from your Designhill store. Make sure to let people in your network know if there is a sale going on.
You will get the preview of your work in the box. Choose the design that’s appealing.
Click Post and there you go!
(III) Tags
If you use Instagram or Twitter frequently, you know the importance of tags. They are a great way to find like-minded people and interact with them, or they interact with you regarding your work. The same goes for Designhill.
Think like a customer. Find out what would they use to find your artwork? How would you describe your design in a few words? Keep these questions in mind and create a list of at least 5 to 10 keywords.
For example, if you have a design that has natural flowers or plants, you can use words like, “nature”, “nature inspired”, “lily flowers”, and so on.
Keep in mind that the tags you choose should be specific. For example, if you use flowers, there are thousands of designs featuring flowers. But if you use “lily flower” your design will appear specifically when someone types the same.
(IV) Title and Description
Your customers may need some insight into the design you created. Tell something relevant about that in your design’s title and description section. This gives you artwork a better opportunity to rank higher in the search.
