In t-shirt printing, halftones and gradients are created by the printers. The printers spray down the layers of ink on the t-shirt. If the shirt is dark, the printers create a base layer white first. This layer sits beneath the colored layers, so the printers are effectively trying to lay down two layers on the same spot.
When you use the gradients and halftones in your artwork, keep the following in mind —
White Fading to Nothing |
Tricky |
Black Fading to Nothing |
OK |
Color Fading to Nothing |
Tricky |
Color Fading to Another Color |
OK |
Here is a complete reference of Halftones.
