In the United States, publicity rights protect the commercial use of an individual’s identity. No matter whether you are a celebrity or a common person, nobody can use your personal identity for commercial gains.
Also, it prevents you from using somebody else’s image, name, etc. to sell a product. If your design contains somebody else’s name or image, it may violate the publicity rights. Even if it is your own drawing or artistic interpretation, using other’s name or image is prohibited.
